Summary
Darkness has always been around. It's just taken the right people to find and harness it, and the right people to fight for the light, the hidden embers that prove that the world isn't as broken as everyone assumes it is.
When one man decides to hone the darkness to complete a masterplan years in the making, a mysterious guardian finds himself choosing two teenagers through an ancient ritual. Although wary at first, he decides to take the leap: they may just be the next generation needed to keep the work going.
Marinette Dupain-Cheng and Adrien Agreste may have never initially asked for the roles. But eventually, they learn they have to accept it.
Because now, Ladybug and Cat Noir have stepped into a dangerous game, one that could determine the fate of reality as they knew it.

The air is still and heavy, carrying no sound of distant cries or alarms. The quiet is in stark contrast to the sound of fighting that comes from his earpiece. Danger is never far away in Gotham. But Batman takes a brief moment to take in the view of towering skyscrapers and kaleidoscope of colors from all the lights. The moment passes and he prepares to launch himself to the next roof and continue his patrol.
Only to freeze at the subtle and sudden presence of a breeze. It lifts the sounds of the city into the night sky. He turns quickly to his right and pulls up short. The figure sharing his perch is in white and arctic blue with...rabbit ears.
"Violet." With a slight nod he acknowledges them.
The figure salutes and just...portals away.

Marinette came closer and stood very, very close to him, between Felix and his desk, her gaze fixed on the pavilion blueprint. “Oh, that's exactly what I wanted to talk to you about,” she said, turning her back to him completely to point her finger somewhere on the building plan. “Right here, see? Where we have planned an area for showing new models…”
By this point, Felix’s brain had already begun to shut down, because it clearly didn’t have enough blood to function—all of it going down to where his body was closest to the tempting roundnesses of Marinette's butt, covered with a thin, tight fabric. In fact, some parts of Felix's body were now in extremely dangerous proximity to those very roundnesses, and he, of course, could no longer perceive either what she wanted to change in the design of the complex, or look where she was pointing on the construction plan...

He had already raised the glass to his lips, about to take the last sip and call a cab, when his hand was intercepted and the glass was brazenly pulled out of his palm.
Marinette tipped back the glass, pouring the rest of his cocktail into her mouth, and turned to the guy walking past her. “Hey, could you hold this for me?” she asked with a charming smile, which she knew how to use perfectly now that she was no longer the same naive, modest schoolgirl with whom Felix once argued in class.
“Shall we dance?” she asked, more like a statement, already leading him towards the dancing mass of people, behind whose backs in the distance he could see the head of the DJ with his headphones shifted from one ear.
Felix couldn't help but smile at the sly heartbreaker that he seemed to have made out of Marinette himself, and let her drag him wherever she wanted, because now that she was next to him, all his irritation quickly melted away, and that feeling of quality time quickly enveloped him right here, in the middle of a noisy crowd, simply from the very fact of her presence.

Something was wrong with him.
With his head, perhaps? Maybe Felix hit his head hard on something and his mind clouded? Or was he hit by some kind of Cupid-like Akuma, and fell in fake love with her against his will? Or was it Felix from some other dimension, and in that dimension he dated another Marinette? It was difficult to imagine that such a reality where they would be together could exist, of course, but it would at least somehow explain the absurdity that was happening.
And… Did he actually call her ‘love’ a couple of minutes ago?
