“How?” Jayce asks breathlessly. The figure doesn’t respond; instead, they lift a slender hand, covered in strange blue veins and runes, and for a moment, it looks like the figure might drop something from their hands to Jayce’s gloved ones before they pause.
In a universe two steps from canon, the Arcane Herald exists as a patron god of Zaun. At age 8, Jayce encountered this god, changing the course of his life. At age 14, he is discovered by the Herald’s order and told he’s the god’s Chosen, his mortal consort. At age 18, Jayce is sent to live in the Commune, the heart of the Herald’s order, to ascend to his destined status.
Given a year to prepare, Jayce is paired with an Acolyte named Viktor to teach him the ins and outs of his role. As time goes on, Jayce finds himself drawn to Viktor, unable to stop himself from falling for the other man. Jayce finds himself torn between his growing feelings for Viktor and his destiny with the Arcane Herald. Meanwhile, Viktor is holding onto a secret of his own. In the year 3099, Piltover is a cyberpunk dystopia run by Medarda Corporation, which has monopolized the production and selling of cyberware. If technology runs Piltover, Ambessa Medarda is only a close second, hoarding the profits of cyberware to herself and a few others, and using the Piltover Police Department to silence any discordance.
Jayce is working for Medarda Corporation as a lead scientist, conducting research on a project he calls Hextech. The idea has the capacity of being as revolutionary as cyberware once was —as a sort of technology that improves the human body’s functions without the replacement of living tissue— except lately the Medarda board has been threatening to shut it down. When Jayce sees himself on the verge of unemployment, he thinks Hextech is done for.
What he doesn’t expect to find is two strangers in his lab, trying to steal his notes with the help of his friend Caitlyn.

The voice was deep. A low, rumbling baritone that vibrated through the quiet barn. It wasn’t shouted, but the command in it was absolute.
Viktor froze, his bloody hands still hovering over the horse’s wound. He slowly turned his head.
Jayce stood in the doorway, silhouetted by the faint moonlight from outside. He was big. Imposingly so, with broad shoulders that seemed to fill the frame. He was holding a rifle, pointed unwaveringly at Viktor’s chest. Viktor’s eyes, adjusted to the dim light, could make out little else—just a large, powerful form and the glint of steel on the rifle’s barrel.
“This is private property,” he said, his voice calm but edged with steel. “You’re trespassing.”
Viktor’s mind raced. He could try to talk his way out, lie, threaten. But the rifle was very steady. And the man holding it… there was an aura of grounded, immovable strength about him. This wasn’t one of the panicked hired guns he was well used to fight for a living. This was different.

He knows that Viktor isn’t a baby anymore, but whatever, they’re both regressing right now. Viktor squirms in his arms, whimpering like he’s in the middle of having some sort of tantrum.
“Oh, sweetheart. Shh, sweet boy,” Jayce sing-songs in Viktor’s ear, hand patting at his lower back, leg rocking underneath him. Viktor’s fingers grab even tighter onto the collar of Jayce’s t-shirt.
A wet gasp, an unmistakable moan of pleasure. “Oh, f-fuck —”
