We make our decisions based on what we know best at the time, Link rationalized. That boy did what he thought was right at the time, that boy did the best he could.
"You did well, Link, and you're still doing well."
He wasn't sure if he would believe that this time, or even next time or the time after that. But if she kept talking to him in that voice, with the weighted look of love in her eyes, perhaps he could learn to.
After experiencing a childhood of neglect and abuse, Link finds some refuge in the Hyrule Knight Academy. Surrounded by a new set of nihilistic peers and a handful of professors that expect too much of him, he struggles to keep handle of the broken, malformed pieces of himself. In the meantime, Hyrule is frantically preparing for the impending Calamity. A fateful day in the forest thrusts him into the inescapable role of the Hero, a role he'd do anything to abandon. As Ganon's grip on Hyrule tightens, Link is forced to mourn a childhood that he's still living.

The Spirit Maiden, the Hero, and the Hero's Guardian... All three are part of the Goddess Hylia's plan to rid the world of Demise. After the war that sealed Demise away, Hylia enacted her plan—leading to the three individuals of legend appearing after an unknown period of time.
The Spirit Maiden appeared as Zelda, the daughter of Headmaster Gaepora and Link’s best friend. The Hero appeared as Link—and his older sister, Aria, served as his guardian.
After Zelda was taken, Link and Aria embarked on the beginning of an unforgettable quest, the sword spirits Delis and Fi as their guides. With their aid, Link and Aria ventured from their skyward home—and down to the Surface—to find Zelda and fulfill their role in Hylia's greater plan.

Ghirahim, a loyal servant to a powerful Demon King is given the task to revive his master by kidnapping the human form of the Goddess Hylia and crosses paths many times with her chosen hero, also her brother.
But when feelings start to arise, neither is sure how to go about them or if they even exist for one another.
