It is the first part in this story and this bit won't make sense without it. It is a Hobbit fic. It's great and not too long and filled with all sorts of cosy moments and a little trauma sprinkled in.
The story from there could go two ways. This is one of those ways.
There will be a companion story to this one, called 'Mesmel', that I'll begin posting soon. That will be the alternative part 2 and I'm so so excited to get started on it.
As I'm sure you've guessed, this is the story as is if Dwalin never did knock, though she waited all those years. 'Mesmel' will be, of course, what happened if he did.
