Her breath hitched—just for a second. Something sharp and hopeful twisted deep in her chest, painful in its intensity. But still, she shook her head, bitter. “I’m not…” she started, but the words died in her throat.
He smiled again—not blinding this time, but something softer, something real. “You are,” Lemillion insisted, his unwavering confidence grounding every word.
