Her twin brother joined a corporation army to get off the moon colony and start gathering help for a revolution. Their plan came to a halt when his company was abandoned by their corporation on a hostile planet. With his life insurance payout, Marie abandons her job on Proteus and traverses to the last location on the planet Pandora, eager to find him or his body.
But her first day there is a disaster. Nearly killed by the local wildlife, Marie gets rescued and brought to Hyperion, a corporation that’s heavily invested in Pandora. She enters a contract marriage with the owner of Hyperion, a man known as Handsome Jack, who's hellbent on discovering the mysteries of the Vaults. Jack wants nothing to do with her romantically and forces his closest body double, Timothy, to make public displays of affection with Marie. And things only get more complicated when the bandit gang known as the Crimson Raiders manages to kidnap Marie, the scope of the group’s best sniper set on her.
