“I’ve been flat on my back for four days!” Kaede wails. Her head pops back up, eyes red-rimmed and watery. She does look truly miserable, her lower lip wobbling, so Kiibo puts down the freshly laundered sheet he’d been folding (after Shuichi woke him up yesterday morning by ejecting the crackers and coffee onto the bed) and comes to sit on the edge of the bed. Kaede hesitates, her lip flickering like she wants to bite down on it, and finally, Kiibo lets out a soft chuckle.
“Kaede, I cannot get sick,” he reminds her delicately. “I’m a robot.”
“Oh!” Kaede gasps, then her eyes gloss over with another sheen of tears. “H-How could I forget? One of the things that makes you special… I’m such an awful girlfriend!”
Kiibo narrowly manages to suppress a sigh as Kaede collapses against his chest, but it’s only because he doesn’t have to breathe. He’s not exasperated at her—and in fact it hurts to see her in a state like this—but it would be easier to know the way forward if Shuichi wasn’t also sick.

New Pines wasn't a bad place to live, all things considered.
After all, it was a decently populated area, with a good number of restaurants, shopping centers, and other miscellaneous facilities scattered throughout, making it virtually impossible to get bored. Plus, the residents seemed pretty nice.
Or, due to his uncle getting a better job, Shuichi Saihara finds himself moving to an entirely new town for his senior year of high school. Luckily, some of the worries are alleviated when a friend group decides to adopt him. Shuichi is now thrown into a whole new world of friendship, love, and everything else in between, and he's in for a wild ride, to say the least.
