Vex’ahlia could almost not even begin to explain the creature to herself. Woman was still correct, hopefully, but there was something… different. The difference was quite obvious, but Vex’ahlia struggled to break down what she was looking at. Before her sat a half-beast, half-woman creature, though half might not have been the right proportion of each feature. Notably, the eyes were still very much that of a human woman. She could read the emotion and intelligence behind the vivid green eyes nervously watching her every move.

Vex has never quite liked her brother’s girlfriend, Keyleth Ashari. Something about the woman has unnerved her, and her constant puppy eyes at Vax haven’t ever helped her case. They’ve clashed over every event they’ve worked at together since.
But now, Vax is dating Gilmore, and to avoid working with Keyleth in the aftermath, he’s made Vex run their desserts at the annual Tal’Dorei ball. Which means she not only has to spend the holidays working- she has to spend the holidays working with Keyleth.
It’s a recipe for disaster.

He didn’t need to say anything for her to know that his Patroness disapproved of this mission.
To lose him too…she couldn’t bear the thought.
But she wouldn’t abandon Percy.
She couldn’t.
Therein was the solution.
She exhaled shakily, the obvious answer burning clear in her mind.“I’ll do it.”

Vex doesn’t think she’s ever seen anything quite as beautiful as Ank’harel’s River District in the springtime. All around the erected runways are spring crops ripe for the harvesting, green grass and blooming flowers as far as the eye can see, and the numerous winding canals that feed water into the rest of the city from the central oasis. She remembers the first time she saw the city so many years ago, stepping out of the airport in the Sand-Herald District and having to stop and gape at the grand architecture and the elaborate tapestries before being ushered off into the called car.
It was magical then, and watching the models walk along their path above and curving with the canals, it’s even more so now.
“Smile for the camera, Vex’ahlia.”
