Summary
Shinsou’s mouth feels dry and he looks around the room. There’s a soft green light pulsing on the side of its neck and a mechanical whirr like it’s charging. He doesn’t move to touch it, just circles around until he finds a cord plugged into the back of its neck, covered by a silicone flap, connecting to the wall. Shinsou reaches up, heart climbing in his throat, and unplugs the device.
The unit stirs, eyes opening slowly, pupils dilating like a camera lens, adjusting to the low-light. It sits up straighter and then speaks in his voice.
“Evening Aizawa-Sensei,” it says. “Awaiting instruction.”
Shinsou reels back, hits the edge of the dresser causing a bottle of pills to rattle.
The robot’s eyes track him and it tilts its head slightly. “I’m sorry, you’re not my registered user. Limited interface access only. Would you like a demonstration?”
“No,” Shinsou says instantly. “No demonstration. Fucking… no.”
