With the gang spread thin after moving to their new hideout, they need more help than they would admit. When Dutch sends Bill and Arthur to Valentine for supplies. Trouble arises when Y/N fends off a drunk. Impressed, Dutch tasks Arthur with recruiting her to help rescue Sean, who’s been captured by bounty hunters.
Y/N is a hardened outlaw, and has lived a life full of crime, just like Arthur. She's wary of joining another gang after past betrayals, but the more time she spends with the Van der Lindes, the harder it becomes to ignore the sense of belonging she swore she didn’t need. Arthur doesn't want to get his hopes up, but he quietly wants her to stay. Riding with the gang forces her to confront the version of herself she swore she’d buried, and a future she never imagined.
Will she stick with the gang, or go back to riding the trails alone?

Arthur didn’t love anyone. He simply couldn’t, whenever he saw a baby duckling, or a cute kitten, his heart did not flutter one bit. He hated love, and despised the consequences that came with it. He loved Mary, he gave her his heart and she ripped it apart like a piece of rotten dragonfruit.

I’m not sure if there’s a point to this story, but I’m going to tell it again. It took one frozen May in the Grizzlies West and a trail of bread crumbs laid for a nobler man.
When Dutch van der Linde resumes his habit of picking up waifs, Micah realizes he’s become entangled in a violent tragicomedy with no end nor reward, and he begins to doubt he can stick it out for the long con.

In other words, a loose-ish retelling of the game’s events if a fresh batch of kids and the wonderful Tilly Jackson put Micah on a redemption arc of his own. Set over a longer time span in a bigger country. Really not a fix-it, in some ways a make-it-worse.

Give them a reason to pluck teenage him from the street when they could’ve picked any other coughing kid.
Facing the sun, he thought it like a prayer: Please, God, I want to be sick.
He never would have said it if he knew he’d have to wait until the moment he was happy, then watch it all disintegrate.
