Back in April, I noticed that there's something distinctly off about Brenner in The First Shadow. Tugging on that single thread opened a months-long rabbit hole of "what the fuck is Kate Trefry DOING" that's honestly left me a little disoriented. This piece encompasses the roles of Henry Creel, Dr. Brenner, the Mindflayer, and Patty Newby, and also it touches on the nature of The First Shadow as a whole.
The other parts of this series (still to come) will cover the play’s possible implications for season five of Stranger Things.
