Summary--well, here's Pearl's request, which I attempted to fulfill, with the possible exception of the lightning, which ended up being merely metaphorical.
"Request:
I would like a humorous story with the setting at the Great Smials. Pippin is very young (but not an infant). Gandalf is present and is putting on a fireworks show to celebrate Yule. The story must include a lightening strike as a secondary element, but without any great emphasis on the resulting fire. At some point, Gandalf gets into the holiday punch, which of course, has been spiked!"Series

As the years carry on and peril seems ever so near, the two begin to truly fall one another through the careful art of Gardening.

Summary
The mountain is won back. They got through the winter without any further losses and more and more dwarrows are returning home to Erebor. They finally have the time to devote to their bond.
And yet Thorin and Bilbo are struggling with their instincts and their control. They need to redefine what their territory is, which, for Bilbo, means a visit to the Shire.
