Summary
All Techno's previous foster placements ended in disaster, so could anybody really blame him for not holding out much hope when he's placed with the Crafts? For all their kindness, Techno knows he's just biding his time. And getting attached will only make it hurt more when they finally discard him.
That is what Techno keeps telling himself, even when his denial starts growing literal roots in his lungs and the first flowers spill from his lips.

Techno frowned as he remembered the words his social worker had told him when dropping him off at this house. The worst part was she was right. They were perfect. Phil never yelled, never put his hands on any of them. Wilbur didn’t flaunt the fact that he was Phil’s bio kid, or that he was the oldest. Tommy didn’t invade his space or take his stuff. They hadn’t done anything wrong. Nothing. So it only hurt more that it wasn’t working. Techno was the problem. There was no denying it. He had no one to blame but himself.

Techno stands above him - apparently intent on not letting Tommy sleep. He opens up the curtains, letting the sunlight flash into the living room, intent on torturing Tommy.
Tommy groans. He turns his head to the side, into the pillow. A futile attempt to wade off his brother, his darn stubborn brother who still stands above Tommy. Techno raises his eyebrow.
"C'mon Tommy, it's mid-afternoon. You can't possibly still be tired at this hour, can you?"
