“It’s the least I can do for my favorite hedgehog,” Shadow said, moving in closer to Sonic. “Hey, mi cielo azul, what say we hang out at my place tonight?”
There was a surprised look that formed on Sonic’s face, his whole expression softening as if someone had gently tilted his world off its axis. His ears flicked a few times like he was afraid he’d misheard something so impossibly good. For a moment he just stood there, blinking at Shadow with wide eyes, his stomach doing an embarrassing little flip. Shadow wanted to hang out with him? And at his house, no less? The thought hit him all at once, warm and dizzying, curling around his ribs like a spark turning into a flame.
“A-ah? I’d love that! Thank you, Shadow.” Sonic finally said, letting out an awkward laugh.

Ever since Sonic told him about that Chao Race that ended with his look-alike's surprising victory, Shadow's somehow gained a new headache. He's not sure what is about himself that makes the little blue chao so obsessed with following him around constantly. Perhaps it has decided to turn its admiration for its recent win onto him, considering his own chao isn't giving it the time of day anytime soon. An entirely harmless endeavor then. One he can easily ignore.
That is, until he finds out firsthand that its infatuation with him is far less than innocent.
(or, against his better judgement, Shadow indulges himself. And the Sonic Chao is just happy to be along for the ride.)
