    Summary

The Warrior of Light has suffered greatly at the hands of betrayal. Now, his journey takes him north to Ishgard, his eyes ever fixed heavensward to what a new dawn may bring.

Welcome! This is Book II based in Heavensward. If you're curious about how the story started, including changes to the MSQ, please consider reading the fully completed Book I! Just as before, this will include both familiar and unique scenes and is not meant to be 1:1 with the game. It's meant to be a more seamless experience with an evolving cast of characters, consistencies, tie-ins, and references that weren't accounted for early in the game's development, but we'll see how I do! This is not me “fixing” or “improving” anything. It’s just my reinterpretation and rewrite.

More than anything, this is practice for me, so please feel free to leave any feedback you have or thoughts along the way. It really does help! The prologue and epilogue will be written differently than the rest of the fic and each chapter has pictures done in gpose. Appendicies will also be added, though mostly after the main story is done.

    Enjoy!

    Summary

Estinien stayed silent, his eyes lidded as he continued to stare down the knife. She couldn’t tell if he was seriously considering her words or ignoring her outright, as both were entirely plausible by his expression. A furrow set in deep in time with a heavy sigh, pulling the blade fully from its sheath. “Because I once considered you a dear friend and ally,” were words that cut sharper than the knife he played with, “and naive as it may be, I want to believe it matters at least somewhat.

“But I know what fuels your ire.”

    ——

A journey to find Orn Khai's mother; a journey to reconnect to Surkukteni's past; and a journey to repair a friendship that goes a bit awry. Surkukteni didn't ever think she could mend things with Estinien; let alone catch feelings for the man.

A rewrite of Dragoon 70 to follow, somehow, silence hurts the most —it can be mostly read without it, but I still recommend reading that first. Absolutely love this draft, and I hope y'all do too!

    Summary

A chance encounter in the depths of the Coerthas Eastern Highlands between a maiden, Shiva, and a dragon, Hraesvelgr, leads to an unusual agreement: once a week, she will come and sing to him, and in exchange, he will ensure that her village is not overrun by other dragons. It is something that can be warily agreed to enough.

That chance encounter, unbeknownst to them, alters history forever. As Shiva comes to realize that the drachen race is just as desperate for rest as the elezens are, she strives to make amends and parley between their two races. Whether or not she truly succeeds in the end is lost to history-- but one thing cannot be denied, and that is that the love that blossoms between the maiden and the wyrm is true and strong, and they will never be torn apart.

(Rated M but there will be tagged E chapters later.)

Chapter Two: A brother and a sister's unbreakable bond. A maiden and a wyrm seal their fates without realizing it.

    Summary

A three part piece in my series, grappling with a few subjects/emotions but, principally, my developing opinion of Hydaelyn at the present moment within the current story context, both in the game canon and in my own developing headcanon. Work is now complete, but I am probably going to revise it a bit before I call it finished.

Sarah is lost in thought on a chilly Ishgardian evening, reflecting on recent events and, more specifically, her developing thoughts on Hydaelyn and the seeming reality of her own tempering in service to the Mother Crystal. Emet-Selch appears beside her to offer consolation, but in their conversation the both of them end up reliving some painful memories of her last moments, and the circumstances of the Unsundered's survival through the Sundering.

Their conversation turns later to other matters, such as his thoughts on the dragons and Midgardsormr, who comes to speak with them about the past they both have shown him through her experiences on the First. Finally, Y'shtola returns with some friends, and a surprise for them both.

    Summary

It was preposterous to think that a dragon might be courting him, and yet-- and yet it had happened in the past, and not as infrequently as the Church would have led Ishgardians to believe.
