It’s been a little over three years now, of the tradition regaining its footing, of not being able to go more than six or seven weeks without waking up to a photo in the group chat of one of them caught and scowling about it, and it turns out, not for the first time, that Xio was right: it is fun now, without the pressure of glory or death looming over them. It gives them all an excuse to not go too long without seeing each other, a good reason to travel and explore far flung areas of Reino del Sol and one another’s cities. It gives their brains something to work on in their free time, keeps them on their toes as they constantly, with a sense of genuine playful competitiveness, cast wary and watchful glances over their shoulders.
Still, Ocelo doubts any of the others use it for reasons like this.
Or, Ocelo enjoys a night with Dezi and Marino before coming to a realization in the morning.

Tired of her brother mooning over that Jade. Tired of how her heart sounded when Niya came near her.
