It's always there, but sometimes it's fainter— some days, it's just a slight shake in his fingers that forces him to steady his pen more as he writes. Some days, it's the quiver of the knife as he slices vegetables for their stew, pressing down a little too hard as he chops the potatoes in halves.

The night of the meteor shower, thousands of people wished for magic, for power, for their wildest dreams to be granted.
Wilbur was the son of Kristin and Philza. He knew his father would love him regardless, but he wished to be in on the magic and preening and nests that his parents shared. Even if they let him in on parts of it, he could never truly understand it without becoming like them.
Elsewhere, a young man named Technoblade was well enough to watch the meteor shower and eclipse. He was fortunate enough to live far enough from the village that he had stayed healthy thus far. He logically knew that nothing would happen, but he still wished he could make a change.
Tommy was the son of two unimportant people with unimportant lives who were constantly unimpressed with their son. Tommy's best efforts were never good enough for them. He wished to be valuable.
None of the boys expected their wishes to be granted. All of them were surprised, when exactly three days later, wings emerged from their backs
