Summary
For Laios, what had once been a distant fantasy, had become his reality by a spur of the moment whim. His future, for once, was solely on his hands. And maybe the fairy-tales about princes fighting dragons weren’t as far fetched as he had thought.
But now, by his own actions, he was back again where he had started, with even more on his plate than then. Maybe he should have stayed in the village, become chief. It was definitely a smaller scope than a whole kingdom, less pressure. But then again, it was his actions that had led him here. He had chosen to do this, he shouldn’t regret any of it. Was this not the maximum expression of free will?
Yet he still had to go through formalities and pleasantries. And he couldn’t really engage with his interests either. And now apparently, he was to have an arranged marriage.
On the meanwhile, he became entangled with his royal advisor. Of course, this hadn’t been without doubt. Yet the tentative was too strong, and cold hands ran faster than thoughts. A bit of self-indulgence is needed, every now and then. It’s only natural, you see.
But what was to say that Kabru felt as strongly about their little affair as Laios did?

Summary
“G-good morning, handsome!” he blurted out in response, with full sincerity, feeling his face grow warm. How come these things sounded a million times better coming from Kabru, even though the compliment applied to him much more than it applied to Laios? Maybe it was because it was too obvious. Kabru knew that he was handsome. He didn't need to be told, unlike Laios, who still couldn't quite believe that someone like Kabru could find him attractive, and thus appreciated a reminder. Or maybe it was for the same reason that it sometimes felt awkward to say I love you too, as if he was just repeating what Kabru told him back to him, even though he really, really meant it every time. It was just one of those things, he thought. But the reason was probably more simple than that: nothing that came out of Laios' mouth ever sounded right, even when he was doing his best to say the appropriate thing. In any case, Kabru seemed to appreciate it, judging by how he giggled at Laios' words and kicked his feet under the blanket.

Summary
The number one most important thing of becoming a wolf is being fully authentic to yourself. You can’t have any shame or embarrassment about who you are, or you won’t be able to achieve true wolfhood. That’s why Laios likes to strip down his fat body and run naked on all fours through the halls of the castle.

Summary
“I guess so. I can only speculate, though,” Laios said dejectedly, shaking his head. “There are so many different possibilities, you know? I don't want to make too many assumptions. It makes sense that humanoid monsters, like mermaids are depicted to be, would be related to humans somehow, but I can't take that for granted. Evolution isn't as simple as that. I mean, look at rabbits and hares, for example. They look pretty similar, so you'd assume they're related, but they aren't. And even if we assume that there's a connection, I wouldn't know what it is. And what about shapeshifters, like vampires and werewolves and kitsunes? How do they fit into all of this? Could they mate with humans? Could they mate with each other?” Laios hid his face in his hands. “I don't know!”

Summary
“You know,” the man finally spoke, having discreetly cleared his throat, “there's something I've been wondering about. You... well...” he stammered, looking down bashfully. His index fingers simultaneously tapped on the merman's back and tail in an attempt, perhaps, to simulate tapping his fingers together without letting go of the merman's body. “I was thinking,” he tried again, pursing his lips innocently, “we already know that humans and mermaids are sexually compatible, because we tested it out, right? So, if that's the case, then I have to wonder if you and I... I mean...!” he blurted out, poorly hiding his nervousness, “... if humans and mermaids could procreate, too!”
The merman blinked slowly, fluttering his long eyelashes, and covered his mouth with his hand. I see, he thought to himself calmly, that is what you wanted to ask me that time. He'd already assumed as much, but it was always a good thing to confirm one's suspicions.

Summary
“Mmm. I see,” Kabru murmured, lightly nodding his head. “That's really inte... eh...” Kabru was rudely interrupted by his own yawn, forcefully closing his eyes and stretching his mouth wide open. He tried to discreetly cover it with his hand, but it was far too late for that. Once he regained control of his facial muscles, he immediately clenched his jaw and shook his head like a dog trying to shake off a fly. His eyes, wide with shock and fear, fixed on Laios' face. Kabru furrowed his brow, sweating profusely. “I'm terribly sorry,” he mumbled anxiously through his hand, “that was so rude of me. Don't take this the wrong way! I promise that I'm sincerely interested in the things you're telling me!” he assured, shaking Laios by the shoulder for emphasis. “I'm not bored in the slightest! I'm just,” he went on explaining, letting out a sigh, “beset by tiredness all of a sudden.”

Summary
While Laios prepared his supplies, Kabru sat on the edge of the bed, with his head held high, his chest slightly puffed out, and his legs dangling off the edge, touching the floor with his toes. He kept his hands in his lap, idly playing with the edge of the oversized shirt he'd inherited from Laios. He looked excited and nervous, sitting stiffly with a straight back, as if he was going to have a professional picture taken. Well, it was close enough. Laios was no professional, but his drawing of Kabru would technically be a portrait, drawn as faithfully as he was capable of. In colour. That made it feel different from the countless times Laios had drawn him before. More serious and intimidating and important. More real. Something that one should be careful not to mess up.

Summary
Kabru knew the day of Laios’s marriage would come soon, but he wasn’t ready to be this soon. He had always felt a strong connection to the other man, even though it was really hard to admit. And their first meeting wasn’t pleasant either, but when he finally earned Laios’ attention, he felt those damned butterflies in his stomach.
After he became the king’s advisor, he realized how big that mistake was. He spent so much time around Laios that he never realized he had fallen for him even more. Being with him felt like breathing, and without the other man’s knowing, he kept earning Kabru’s true smile, his true side. He felt weak and exposed, but Laios did not notice anything. Of course, how would he notice when he was so oblivious… -

Summary
“While that's boiling,” Laios said, turning away from the stove, “we can prepare all of the other stuff that we're gonna put in the soup! You can add all kinds of different vegetables if you want,” he went on cheerfully, picking vegetables out of the fruit-and-veg basket as he spoke, “but I use carrots, celery, and green onions. We'll just put them into the pot after we dump out the water,” he explained, waving a carrot around, “but we'll have to peel the carrots first.” Kabru squinted at the carrot. Subconsciously, hearing the word peel, he thought of bananas first. Upon closer inspection, he noticed a kind of skin on the surface of the carrot. “Do you wanna try?”

Summary
“Ah, sorry. I'm almost done,” he said, feeling Kabru tighten his embrace and lean against his back. Kabru was a really thorough teeth-brusher. Laios had assumed that he'd be done with the chores by the time he came out of the bathroom, smelling of mint and soap and deodorant, but evidently he miscalculated. Probably because he spent so much time gathering the eggshells.
“Mmm,” Kabru hummed, resting his chin against Laios' shoulder, “don't worry about it, honey. Take your time.” Laios glanced at him curiously from the corner of his eye. Maybe he wanted to watch? That was fine, then. Laios continued to scrub the pot, trying desperately not to get distracted by Kabru's presence, a goal that proved increasingly difficult over time.

Summary
Finally, he headed towards his bedroom, feeling his eyelids grow heavier with every step. It was only once he got really close that he realised something was off – and this time, it wasn't something that he could easily ignore. His bedroom door was open. He definitely didn't leave it like that. He always made sure to close it. He didn't enjoy the thought of anybody being in his room when he wasn't home. There were too many things in there that he didn't want anybody to see or touch without his permission. It would be fine if it was Falin, he supposed, since the two of them were used to sharing a living space and didn't really have many secrets they kept from each other (as far as he knew, at least), but Falin would probably ask him first, anyway. And she wouldn't leave the door open like that. Laios knitted his eyebrows. Come to think of it, wasn't it weird that the door was open at all? Even weirder was the fact the lights weren't on. Who would want to sit there in the dark, waiting for him to come home...? Laios' heart skipped a beat. There was only one answer he could think of, and he really hoped that it was true. With a shaking hand, he grabbed the doorknob.

Summary
When Laios finally moves back into his hometown, Kabru gets the chance to meet him for the first time - and Laios is totally his type. Tall, hunky, with a voracious appetite. Quite similar to the person behind Kabru's favorite kink account that keeps him company at his horniest moments. Total coincidence, right?
