Hermione Granger is sent to America to investigate a mysterious case of a rogue witch killing people in a small town, trying to raise a powerful demon by the name of Samhain from hell. Dean and Sam mistake her for the actual witch they are looking for and kidnap her. They realize she isn't the witch they are looking for and strike a deal. She helps them capture this witch to prove she isn't evil like the witches they have fought in the past, in exchange for her getting to walk free. Hermione agrees reluctantly, Dean annoying the hell out of her for his clear prejudice against all witches. When the angels realize who and what she is, they want to take her with them instead. Dean and Sam protect her from them and end up having to bring her with them on the road. Hermione and Sam end up becoming close friends while Dean just seems to get worse and worse. Will Hermione and Dean figure out how to work together or will they end up killing each other in the process?

Sam wants out. Again. This time out means out of a mental hospital. He manages this through some weird law that hasn't been used in forty years but hey - he's out.
This out is different though. Sam knows he probably can't get by in the non-magical world so for the first time in many years he returns to the world of wizards and witches. A trip to his old account reveals Sam's family's history when he has to use blood magic to confirm his identity. In need of a job so that Sam can pass the time, he accepts the position of assistant to the DADA professor at Hogwarts.
Having Lucifer in his head is one thing but dementors and a prophecy that somehow involves him and one of the students is a whole new level of crazy. At least Lucifer seems to be going back to their old promise to protect Sam now but something seems different about the devil.

Sam Winchester owns a bookstore called Winchester Books & Brews in New York. On his way home form work an arc of purple and green magic in the sky above Central Park draws his attention. He goes to help what looks like a dragon shifter who is severely hurt underneath one of the magnificent old trees in the park and heals him up with magic. The stranger is bloodied and dirty and Sam leaves as soon as he knows he'll live having long ago abandoned his hunter days. The stranger eventually finds him and a life that Sam could have never imagined unfolds as they end up battling two enemies that will only bring them more closely together.

There are shattered pearls of unshed tears, aligned in broken constellations adhering to his eyelashes.
Dean, absurdly, wants to kiss him. He knows he shouldn't.
