Jeff anxiously pushes through the bar, eyes frantically sweeping across the small crowds to find her face. He takes out his phone to call her but the noise inside is too much, the signal not enough. When he steps out, he finally finds her standing outside with her arms crossed over her chest and lets out a breath he was barely aware he had been holding.
Her eyes meet his, shining with unshed tears and something in his stomach growls protectively. Or hungrily. He hasn’t eaten all day.
“Wanna get outta here?” he asks.
She inhales sharply, wiping gently at her eyes and nods quickly. He throws his car keys her way and she catches them in both her hands. “I’ll get your coat.”

Life used to be good for Darcy Lewis. Mostly because Aertith is a romantic, partially because everybody else is dead, guilty, or generally messed up by it. They'd wanted to save Gaia. But in reality all that's left is pain. When given the chance, six heroes decide they will help a different world. On the stipulation they may never return home. It's a steep price. But nobody needs a repeat of Gaia.
By the time they encounter Cor, Genesis has three hollow-points in his abdomen and approximately nobody knew about it.
And by the time they were moving furniture, they almost didn't care that they only remembered what Aerith let them. There was a sense of freedom there, as Masamune and Rapier, and Buster and First Tsurugi were stowed for Kukris and standard swords, that whatever happened before, wouldn't now.
Noctis grew up with the knowledge his second string guard were a little different. But as long as they kept treating him like this, he wasn't going to call them on it.

After the school had been rid of the infectious CPU Jeremy had come to realise that his experiences with Chloe and Brooke during that time had not been... ideal. They were forced and confusing for both girls and Jeremy had had no say in his actions at the time, leading to some awkward situations he would much rather never experience again. With some convincing from his best friend Michael, Jeremy had built up the courage to confront the girls in the cafeteria during lunch to apologise and explain, though there wasn’t much need. Both Chloe and Brooke understood the situation perfectly and were happy to forgive the boy. However, Jeremy should have known to stop there. In an attempt to solidify his apology, he had plainly stated that “I am completely over you both, I promise. I can even prove it if you need.” That was his first mistake.

I expect to hear the door swing closed, tensing in anticipation of the noise, but I don’t. Instead, I hear the handle again. And again. And again, and again and again and again and again and againagainagainagainagain, as though someone’s furiously rattling it. I spare a look behind me, just in time to see Connor kick the door hard enough to dent it. I flinch at the resulting boom.
He pauses a moment, breathing heavily, before he glares back at me over his shoulder.
“We’re locked in.”
