    A-qing hadn’t recognized the mark at first, but that wasn’t her fault. Most things weren’t her fault, when fate had slapped her in the gut with a knife and driven her from the last of her family.

I'm really touched you actually went for Banqing, too ;~; I love them so much and they're such a pool noodle ship, it's absolutely lovely to read them for you!!! Your writing always makes everything twenty times better and Banqing is no exception <3 AND AND AND A-QING MY QUEEN I LOVE THE WAY YOU WROTE HER TOO, AND THEN YOU NAILED BAN YUE TOO, AND THEIR MEETING WAS PERFECT AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH Literally you handled them so well, A-Qing is just as spitfire as she always is, and Ban Yue is polite but, like your fic portrayed so well, certainly not soft!!! And ahhhhhh A-Qing initial assessment of her and the way you described how they both lived hard lives is a lot of why I like the ship!!! They lived similar lives, having grown up on the streets with no parents, but then divulged, but they're both loyal and good even if their personalities are very different!!!! I think you hit that really well and managed to highlight everything I really like about the ship and its potential, and oh man it's so good ;~;

    NOT TO MENTION. COCO YOU ARE AMAZING FOR WANTING TO GIFT THIS WONDERFUL THING TO ME AND!!! WOMEN LOVING WOMEN, IT'S SO GOOD!!! I LOVE YOU AND I LOVE THIS, THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!! I AM INCREDIBLY HONORED TO HAVE THIS AS A GIFT AND I SHALL TREASURE IT FOREVER!!!!!!!!1

    Okay, okay, some lines I really really liked!!!
    "There was a flash of confusion across the lines of a determined face, bright and guarded. The woman’s eyes were pretty, in a utilitarian way that spoke of a hard life.
    Good. A-qing didn’t want a soft soulmate, not when she had never had the chance for a soft life. This girl couldn’t be soft, not when A-qing wore those lethal snakes across her arms like a brand."
    "Her skin was marked by a hard life, rough and covered with small scars. There was where she had been beaten for stealing a wallet, and here was where she had stumbled and fell in a rainstorm. A-qing wore her scars well, and with an angry pride."
    "She may be a dead woman, but she was hardly going to sit by and let a snake bite at her heels. She’d lived with a viper of a man for too long to allow that, not now."

    These lines just characterize A-Qing (and a little bit of Ban Yue, too!!!) very well ;~; They have everything I mentioned above, and I really love the war you used the scar imagery, too. It's just. So good. I love it, Coco, words are never gonna be enough....
