Summary
Erwin Smith survived Shiganshina by some miracle. He never expected to learn the truth about this world or experience what life beyond the Walls was like. In his recovery, he learns about the ocean and becomes determined to get there. However, his guilt over the lives he sacrificed to reach the basement still haunts him. Fortunately, he has one Levi Ackerman by his side.
As for Levi, he's dealing with many heavy emotions surrounding Erwin's recovery, but what surprises him the most are his personal feelings towards the former commander.

To make matters worse, the rest of his past tries to come back and haunt him. Fortunately, he has his family by his side to get him through what lurks in the dark corners of his mind. Per Hunter's suggestion, he tries therapy. During his first session, he gets a journal. That should be helpful, right?

He asks the kid to tell him his story- and the kid hits him with a story that- if true- would make Linebeck believe he was looking at the legendary hero reborn.
The cherry on top was the climax: a final battle on top a sunken castle, against the very evil that caused that castle to sink in the first place.
When the kid finishes, Linebeck can’t help himself but to give a slow clap at his performance. “A+ for creativity- honestly, you’re quite an impressive storyteller. But how about you really tell me why I should keep you around.”
The kid looks owlishly up at the captain, eyes wide as if he can’t believe the captain didn’t believe his tall-tale. “What do you mean?”
“Kid.” Linebeck sighs and rubs his eyes before continuing. “Look, that’s a great story you’ve told, but it’s obvious it’s just a story.”
Or
Captain Linebeck is used to being a lone sailor, but now he has to ferry around this random kid- who is hopelessly clueless when it comes to how to survive on the seas. The captain takes it upon himself to try to teach the kid a thing or two before they inevitably split ways when their adventure is over.
