The sharp sting was beginning to fade into a buzzing numbness. The dull ache of unused muscles straining from exertion. Blisters formed on clenched palms gripping the hilt of his blade. The heat, overwhelming. A coppery tang smeared from under his nose as he tried to manage the dripping. A bloodied cuff stained his shirt. Red leaking from a split lip.
‘Angel…’ a whisper from his left. Almost a gasp.

Summary
summer 51' - After an *embarrassingly* public disagreement with Satelite-Officer Jean Vicquemare, Lieutenant Kim Kitsuragi is assigned as Double-Yfreitor Harry Du Bois's permanent partner. As Detective Du Bois contends with his feelings towards the Lieutenant - now unavoidable due to their constant close proximity - Lieutenant Kitsuragi must tackle the startling resemblance that his new partner holds to a previous partner, and dear dead friend.
Spring 46' - When three little bodies wash up on the bank of the Esperance, Lieutenant Dominique Conduvoir of the 57th's Homicide Division requests the liaison of Juvenile Crime's most experienced officer: Detective Kim 'pinball' Kitsuragi. What *should* have been a temporary partnership - not only launches Kim down his desired career path - but entangles both men in a Moralintern conspiracy that drives rot deep into the heart of Revachol.

You: “Gotta carry you over the threshold,” you grunt. “It’s good luck.”
ENCYCLOPEDIA: An old Ubi Sunt? tradition. It’s a symbol of devotion, of the sickness-and-health part of marriage vows.
LOGIC: You’re never going to get married. You’re sure of that. It’s not legal, and anyway Kim wouldn’t enjoy the spectacle of it. This is as close as you’ll get.
ELECTROCHEMISTRY: This is pretty fucking good, though.Kim and Harry are finally moving in together.

He doesn't know that the man upstairs is Harrier Du Bois, infamy manifested in the flesh. And he doesn't know that Harrier Du Bois' efforts to bludgeon himself into oblivion over the past two days just met its catastrophic failure.
What he does know is this: The window upstairs is broken. He's here to investigate a lynching. And he's angry that he couldn't get here sooner.
