Summary
She had to get better, obviously, but she kept running into the same barriers. Kakashi-sensei had given them a week off after Wave and then promptly fucked off to kami-sama knows where, her taijutsu was abysmal, her chakra reserves were too small for most jutsus beyond the Academy Three which was basically every jutsu in existence, and she didn’t have any kind of support system that could help her in any meaningful way. She spent an entire day scouring the library for any kind of tool or trick or skill that would be accessible to a genin who knew fuck all about being a ninja that would also positively impact her chances of survival starting immediately. Unsurprisingly, there was almost nothing. Surprisingly, she did find one potential lead.
So. Summoning.

No one bothered with goodbyes or final words 'just in case'. Looks were exchanged that were impossible to decipher for anyone else but meant a million things to them, and no words need to be said. The closest they got was a countdown.
"...On three?" Naruto suggested, trying not to think about exactly what they were doing. Sakura smiled with a softness rarely ever displayed.
"On seven." She countered, and everyone sat up a little straighter at that, however silly. They nodded and counted down together, spare hands interlocking at some point, before taking their first bite.
