"Sherly, that tickles," he whispered, laughing quietly when the soft fur brushed against his cheek and neck.
Sherly snorted, pretending to sulk, but the wild wag of his tail gave away his happiness.
"I'm just happy you came," he said, pressing himself closer and rubbing his head against William's chest like a spoiled child seeking attention.
William adjusted the wicker basket that had almost tipped over from the sudden hug. He leaned down slightly, his gaze soft and full of meaning as it met Sherly's.
"I'm happy to see you too. I brought some snacks this time. You'll like them."
"I'll eat anything Liam makes. Liam's cooking is always good. No wonder your brother loves your food so much."
