Summary
“You do that one more time, boy, and I’ll tear those eyes right outta your head.”
Obito is a genin, fresh from his first mission in the war, his uniform covered in the blood of his teammates. It slides down his arm and soaks into his glove, where it makes its forever home as a stain on his wrist.
He hides those nights where sleep won’t find him, the intervals between one restless moment and the next, when he looks in the mirror and stares at the red that once stained his clothes, made permanent in his eyes, like those memories he cannot shake.
To maintain his peace, he’ll earn the name of the Bloody Mist.
OR:
Obito is born in Kiri. His team is sent to take over and maintain the Kannabi Bridge supply route. But there are more than Iwa-nin in these forests, and if the bridge is lost, so is the war.
Everything would have been fine if Konoha kept its hands to itself.

Summary
One day when the threads of fate swayed a different path, a moment meant to have shaped the world as it was known. The mission of Kanabi bridge.
When black was traded with white, dreams of world peace were traded with survival and protection, one was traded for two. A Hatake was crushed instead of an Uchiha and the world was forever changed.
For the tale of the Fifth Hokage, Obito Uchiha was a rocky road with many twists and turns. Sacrifices must always be made. That is the duty of a Shinobi. The fate of an Uchiha. The fate of the Hokage. That is the tragedy of the Shinobi world, the one that The Chain Breaker seeks to end, with or without blood.

Summary
Obito arrives a few moments earlier when Rin jumps in front of Kakashi’s chidori. He’s still too late to save her, but he’s in time to watch the sequence of events that makes Kakashi shatter. Instead of returning to Madara, he chooses to live by his own mantra and refuses to abandon his friend in his time of need. Obito returns to Konoha with Kakashi, and this results in just a few unintended consequences. One of them being his insistence that he should be allowed to care for his late sensei’s orphan son, no matter what the Sandaime might say about the matter. He’s not quite sure how Kakashi becoming his unofficial co-parent fits into this, but he’ll figure it out eventually.

Summary
Kakashi wasn’t entirely sure he wasn’t hallucinating. Or suffering from heart failure.
“I thought you were dead,” he said blankly. He might’ve been going into shock.
Obito winced and rubbed the back of his head with a sheepish grin. “Yeah,” he said, tone stilted. “There’s actually quite the story behind that.”
“I should hope so,” was Kakashi’s bland response.

Summary
When Kushina notices that Obito's a kinesthetic learner like her, she tries to ignore it. Really, she does—but Minato has no idea what he's doing when it comes to teaching him, and Kushina can't let the kid's potential be wasted like that. She takes on Obito as a student, then, and somehow gets Rin as one too. It changes... pretty much everything.
Kushina can’t shake that moment from from her mind. She can’t help but to remember all the times she’s heard him referred to as unmotivated, or lazy, or untalented.
Because now the pieces have clicked together, it’s become overwhelmingly clear that Obito is like her, but he doesn’t have the fallbacks she has. He doesn’t have the strength of being a jinchuuriki to back him up, or the chakra chains she’s had from the beginning. Worst of all, she thinks, he’s been pitted up against the most talented prodigy of his generation since day one, constantly compared and found to be lesser.
And Kushina knows Minato, knows he’ll do everything he can to make his kids get along, to eliminate any rivalries that might arise in the name of teamwork. That’s all fine and good, she supposes, but it’s not what Obito needs.
