Overwhelmed and outmatched, he listened to the instinct that screamed to submit to the predator, the prey instinct almost wailing in her presence.
She was angry with him, fierce and vengeful. He had not appeared in her realm like he should have so many years before. She’d eventually made it her mission to find out what he was doing, toying with her and putting his life on the balance so many times.
That was when her rage softened to something akin to awe and his confusion won the war with his overwhelmed senses.
