“Oh, my darling. Have you yet to realise? I’d give up the world for you. I’d give up the world to you.” He shifts on the bed. “Besides, I’ve already given you my heart. I see no reason I can’t let go of the rest.”

He smiles. He’s perfect. “Never.”

When a summer internship falls through, Jayce must resign himself to sacrificing his dignity to online job postings and employers who are too trigger-happy when it comes to sending rejections—except for one: an amusement park called The Last Drop.
Jayce will take what he can get. Spending the summer working as a carnie (though Jayce is aware it won't all be sunshine and rainbows, and it's not like he'd be meeting the love of his life there) can't be that bad, he supposes.

john inhaled sharply as one of the men grabbed his wrists, securing the chains until both of his arms were bound behind his back. he forced himself to keep breathing in a steady rhythm, watching the men pace around to make sure everything was in order. then, without another word, they turned back to the tunnel they’d come from, taking the light with them.
and just like that, john was alone in the darkness.
