Summary
A pre-canon story verse that began in my head when I couldn’t stop thinking about why Arthur was so angry with John, even years later, for leaving the gang.
Obviously, a big part of it was he felt John was disloyal to the gang for doing so, and then his jumbled up feelings about John abandoning Abigail and Jack when he must feel such great sadness and guilt over what happened with Eliza and Isaac.
But it seemed even more personal than that like he himself was specifically betrayed by John. So I wanted to play around with my own shippy answers, and then the verse kind of snowballed with other ideas, too.
Everything here will mostly be just silliness and porn. I’m here for a good time, man. ‘Cause then canon happens, and well…

Summary
In the moment, there's no room for reason or sense - not for John Marston. Too often does he live in the moment and now, after a year of running, he returns to face his reality - to face Arthur Morgan and what he expects to be his own death in punishment for leaving the only family that's ever given a damn about him. Adrenaline runs high when his return is met with unexpected welcome from all but the one he needs it from: Arthur.
-
There is no watershed moment, no breaking of the floodgates like when he first returned. Word spreads that John accepted Jack as his son and, by extension, Abigail as his woman and no one much fusses about it. She gives him a dubious look at the announcement, but offers a grateful hug – a visual reunion of two non-lovers all but trapped in their roles.
"You're a damn fool, John Marston," she breathes into his ear, fingers gripped tight at his shoulders.
"Don't I know it," he says, rueful and self-deprecating. And yet it is truth, openly admitted, because who else would go to the things he has for the sake of maybe getting through to Arthur 'Thick-Headed' Morgan.

Summary
"Whoa," Prompto breathes, coming to a halt. "Guys. Look at that."
Gladio stares. Whoa is right. The beach spread out before them is like a photo from the outdoor magazines his dad used to buy him as a kid: ocean waves lapping in a steady rhythm on the shore, glittering sand that stretches for miles in either direction. The moonlight paints everything in an almost eerie glow; when he crouches down to dig his fingers into the sand, bits of gold cling delicately to his nails.
"Holy shit."
"Beautiful?" Ignis guesses, a little wry, and Prompto and Gladio jolt. It's Prompto who scrambles over, the salt already heavy on Gladio's tongue; Ignis doesn't flinch back when he grabs his hand and presses it to the beach, too.
"It's amazing, Iggy! I--" He falters, and Gladio gets it, because how do you even describe someplace like this? "There's all this sand, it goes on forever! And the water is blue, so blue, like, like..."
"Like Noct's eyes," Gladio hears himself say. Prompto and Ignis turn to him, but he can't look away from the ocean. Just like Noct's eyes.
(It’s not easy, going from four to three. In an unexpected cottage by the sea, Gladio, Ignis, and Prompto have to try, anyways.)
