Summary
He heard the footsteps before he saw their owner, quick and determined. When the slight night breeze blew one tent flap open, Odysseus caught sight of Patroclus emerging from between the rows of tents, his face set with purpose. Something heavy settled in Odysseus's chest at the sight. He had known—or would know—this was coming. He had known Patroclus would come back.
He waited as the young man lingers outside his tent. He could hear him pacing, the scuff of his sandals in the coarse sand easy to follow.
Odysseus was patient, there was plenty of wax left of his candle.
"Odysseus," Patroclus called out finally, slightly breathless, lifting a flap of the tent, the lantern casting the young man's features in a soft warm glow as he appeared from the darkness. "I need your counsel."
AKA EPIC!Ody finds himself back to the fateful day Pat wears the armor. Odysseus is different.
