Summary
“Nightwing.”
To say Batman turned his full attention to the Nightwing would not be a fully accurate statement, for it implied that there was ever a time when Batman was not entirely too aware of Nightwing’s presence. Still, he made a show of deliberately turning before addressing the other man. The name fell quietly from his lips, though Batman knew he needed not to worry about them being overheard. The conversation he hoped to have, no matter how lacking in words, was one suited only for hushed voices.
Nightwing muted his own intercoms. His lack of a smile was a small mercy, a demonstration that Nightwing was at least partially willing to be honest with Batman.
“We’re good, Batman.”
“Nightwing.”
“I mean it. I haven’t changed my mind. I want to do this.”
OR
When an important mission seems to prove Dick's worst fears to be correct, it is up to Bruce to keep him from drowning in the darkness by being his candlelight.

What some people would call paranoia, the Bats call vigilance. Dick is pretty sure something's wrong at the fundraising gala he's attending with Bruce. Still, the security is tight and background checks were done on everyone. So maybe it's just a case of the 'my parents died so now I'm afraid of losing my other parental figure' anxiety making itself known once more. Maybe.

Summary
Bruce wonders, every now and then, why no one ever questions him. For the sake of everyone's sanity, Bruce thinks it would be nice if someone might looked him in the eye and asked do you know what you just did? Do you know why?
Then one day, a detective knocks on his door. One day a detective starts asking questions, digging into a dark and twisted past and waking monsters Bruce had thought long since put to rest.
It’s not until Detective Gordon shoves a warrant into Bruce Wayne’s face that Bruce realizes just how dangerous a question can be.

Summary
Maybe the parenting and grieving books he skimmed the highlights from last week–and Alfred–were right. Why else would Dick have approached their newest case with such ferocity and determination? At first, Bruce chalked it up to empathy. Seeing another child crying after his parents were murdered was something Batman and Robin could relate to.
But when they’d tracked the killer down in his hideout with other gang members, Robin ignored Batman’s commands to immobilize him and leave him for the police. Instead the boy rushed ahead, firing a wire to tangle up the killer’s feet before tackling him to the ground. At that moment, Bruce realized all too late just how wrong he’d been.
