Jason Todd is alive. That is, in fact, something that has been kind of a big deal. What with dying brutally some time before that and all. But people, especially capes, come back from the dead all the time. It's basically a minor inconvenience at this point. Capes come back, and they're still themselves, they're still human. Or alien as the case may be. The point is their species did not change.No one, not the experts on this Earth or in the dimensions he's been to, can explain how he revived. Because, see, all the other capes had some sort of explanation to coming back. Not Jason. It hadn't been something he'd thought about in years. And then he runs into an undead idiot and everything he's ever known about himself starts to fall apart.
Jason Todd is alive. But Jason Todd is dead, too. He just never noticed until another undead woke those instincts up.

Jason is back in Gotham. And now that Jason has had the time and safety to work through some of his own horribly messed up shit he can finally admit Bruce abused him. And he *knows* abusers rarely keep one victim nearby. But Bruce gets his kicks beating Jason's people into even worse debt. His siblings are safe.
Sure, they're stubborn opinionated assholes, just like Jason. But unlike Jason, Bruce loves and cares for them. Jason is always Bruce's exception. Yeah it sucks, but at least he's the only one Bruce is hurting. Dick had always been Bruce's family, even if he'd only been his ward. And Tim had shoved his way into Bruce's life and stayed, so he was in Bruce's good graces, too. Cass believed in 'No Killing' even more than Bruce. And Damian... Well, he might be a killer but it wasn't like he'd had a choice. He was a better son than Jason, one Bruce could actually fix.

Pros: He can still use ghost speak
Cons: None of his family knows ghost speak (as it’s sounds aren’t for living men to understand)
Thankfully Jason meets Danny Fenton who not only understands ghost speak but can teach him how to live again after his accident.

"Crap!" the food truck worker shrieks in alarm. "Don't hurt him, Superman, he's just a kid!"
Clark . . . pauses, then looks up from the kid that he is currently pinning into the street as said kid struggles underneath him.
"'Hurt him'?" he asks in reflexive confusion, and then realizes how batting a teenager around like a person-shaped cat toy and pinning him to the street hard enough to crack it probably actually looks to an outside observer.
. . . um.
Whoops.
"Um," he starts awkwardly, and then the kid slips his pin while he's distracted and throws his arms around his neck with a gleeful laugh and a bright grin.
"Dad!" he crows triumphantly, and hugs Clark harder than literally anyone has ever hugged him before.
