When they met at ARC training, Cody’s first impression of Rex was that he was a serious, upright, and highly competent soldier, who would undoubtedly be a pleasure to collaborate with.
Rex’s first impression of Cody, as verbalized, was: “Fox is going to eat you right up.”
Cody was not entirely certain whether this was meant as a positive or a negative.
“Positive,” Rex assured him. “Very positive.”

Summary
Nearing the end of their training, Cody, Ponds, Fox, Bly, and Wolffe begin to question the life they’ve been forced into. They decide to contact the Republic and the Jedi, fighting to prove their sentience and to liberate all clones from the oppression of the Kaminoans.
Cody is a deserter, the first clone off of Kamino, and ready to wield his wealth of knowledge on sentient rights law. Rex is a stowaway, in way over his head, and excited to meet a Jedi (any Jedi will do!).

Rex has lost count of how many times Ahsoka has drifted from his life, only to reappear like the tide—always retreating, always returning. He knows the pattern all too well, yet each time she slips away, he clings to that rhythm—guards it, nurses it, cradles it as though it were the very pulse of his being, so close, and so necessary, that one might mistake it for his own battle-hardened heart.
The waves crest in blue and white before receding into the vastness beyond, only to break upon the shore once more. Just as she does. Just as she must.
But tides are not promises, and the sea does not keep what it carries away. The sea is relentless, and the Force is vast.
The Force is beyond his control, and she is a force beyond his reach.
