Summary
Fairy tales have been spun for years about Arkadia, the city of gold, and its princess. The stories tell of a land where due to the greed of a king, everything and everyone was transformed into gold. The stories tell of the princess waiting for the day that her one true love will find Arkadia and rescue them.
Bellamy knows the tales of Arkadia because they were Octavia’s favourite but he never thought that it could be real. But then his ship is ripped apart by a storm and he’s sure that he’s going to die. He wakes up, very much alive, on a beach—but it’s not just any beach. The water is warm and the sand beneath his feet is pure gold. It’s blinding here with the sun bouncing off of the gold that seems to be everywhere. And then, she appears.
Bellamy crashes on a beach in a place straight out of a fairy tale and meets the cursed Princess.

There are angry rumors that it's to keep the stations apart, to keep Alpha and GoSci separate from everything and everyone else. Other whispers talk about one person decades ago falling deeply into grief when the Chancellor at the time floated their soulmate, so deeply that they tried to kill the Chancellor and were floated as well. It's only when a spear pierces Jasper's chest that Clarke starts to think that maybe there's another reason why people don't find their soulmate on the Ark.
Earth is nothing like what she expected. River monsters, acid fog, a coalition of Grounders, Mountain Men. But she also never expected a soulmate like Bellamy Blake.
