  1. Summary

Fics too short to count as one-shots but that still feel finished enough to publish. Marking this series as complete because all of these are separate.

    Summary

But Han Ying only continues to stare, ignoring or possibly not even registering the chokehold Wen Kexing has him in.

    “Zhuangzhu,” he says softly.

Zhou Zishu sighs. Takes off his mask.

Years gone by, thousands of miles between them and the capital⎼⎼yet some things never change, it seems.

    Summary

“I don’t care how strong she is, or how impressive her kill counts are, or how good of a shot she is. She’s still a rookie, and you’ve sent her into—“

”The Association didn’t send her anywhere,” Jenna cut in sharply. Xavier could only roll his eyes before fixing her with a cold glare.

”Which makes the situation even more dire,” he hissed through clenched teeth. “Alexis is in Skyhaven, alone, surrounded by potential hostiles, with no support should things go south. What if she’s found out? Is there an extraction plan? Or are we just going to find out that she failed when she’s returned to the Association in a prison transport, battered and beaten after God-knows how many hours of Fleet interrogation? If we even get her back at all!”

    ~OR~

Caleb is exactly the red flag he appears to be and decides that MC (Alexis or Lex, for the sake of third person narration) will be staying in his locked apartment… indefinitely.

    Xavier takes issue with this.

    Summary

Dramatic Irony: a literary device by which the audience's or reader's understanding of events or individuals in a work surpasses that of its characters.

Other types of literary irony include Socratic Irony, which has the character playing dumb. The character knows what’s happening but would rather not divulge information to intensify the story and manipulate it.

Percy Jackson didn't want to be a half-blood, nor did she, a full-grown PhD student, want to be in her childhood book series. Also, what is with the random anachronism?

    Summary

“What do you think of Hatake Kakashi?”

    Natsuko blinks. “Who?”

“Hatake Kakashi,” one of the men says; his light hair is held back from his face by a damp bandana. “Sharingan no Kakashi? Friend Killer Kakashi?”

“What do you mean who?” Anko demands.

“The name is vaguely familiar,” she admits, “but, as I have reminded Mitarashi-san several times, I am not a ninja and we do not share the same social circles. Just from our conversation I can tell you that he’s a man and people probably don’t like him.”

“If you don’t know who he is then how do you know people don’t like him?” Anko asks, pointing an accusatory finger at the waitress.

“People don’t call you “friend killer” if they like you.”

    Summary

Lyla downloaded the gacha game for some pretty pixel boys and endorphin-click mechanics.
What she actually got was interdimensional PTSD and a shiny new Hunter badge she never asked for.
Monsters. Plot holes. Sexy men with backstories that scream “therapist required.”
    Right—

Lyla’s “I’m out” was so abrupt even the Hunter Association blinked.
    Her power said “gamify.”
    She said “Stardew Valley”
Now she’s off-grid with a farm, 80% less anxiety, and avoids the main story like a tax audit.
Xavier comes looking for evidence of foul play.
Finds turnips, a hedgemaze, and the slow crumbling of his priorities instead.
