Edwin gave him a disapproving look and Charles felt his non-existent stomach drop. Because of course Edwin wouldn’t be comfortable dating or experimenting or trying new things when he had his heart set on someone. Edwin was a proper romantic, hoping to have all the big experiences with someone who he was well and truly in love with. Which, of course, at that moment was Charles. Someone who probably did not reciprocate.
He’d been so caught up in the selfish joy he got out of Edwin’s love for him, it had never occurred to him just how much it might be hurting Edwin. If Edwin was depriving himself of something that would make him happy because of how he felt about Charles, Charles would never be able to forgive himself.***
