Summary
He would have recognized that face anywhere in the world, in any crowd, at any hour of the day or night.
He had seen it in dreams for thirty years, recalled it in his quietest prayers, imagined it in the halls of the Vatican or among the faithful. Thirty years of absence branded into his memory like fire.
And now it was here.
Like divine punishment.
or: Thomas and Vincent reunite 30 years later at the conclave, after an agonizing breakup.

Summary
As he listened, Vincent began to notice small details that made his skin prickle, the familiarity in their voices, the casual tone, the laughter between comments, the inside jokes.
Juliette had chosen to sit next to Thomas, forcing Vincent to take the single armchair across from them. Every so often, she touched Thomas’s shoulder or brushed his arm as if it were the most natural thing in the world, and Thomas didn’t seem uncomfortable. He smiled. He leaned into it.
Vincent swallowed the jealousy rising in his throat, fists clenched over his knees, trying to preserve the calm he wore like a second skin. He was the Pope, he wasn’t supposed to feel this way. But as soft laughter filled the room, he wondered how much longer he could endure hearing someone speak to Thomas with such warmth, such intimacy, without breaking.
Or: Vincent has to endure people flirting with his man and survive the ordeal.

Summary
Blood. On his cassock?
He turned with effort, and then he saw it: a red, wet stain, spreading mercilessly over the white fabric, right on the lower back. The contrast was brutal, almost obscene. Sacred cloth, stained by something so human, so fragile, so alarming.

Summary
The path along the lakeshore was peaceful. The water barely moved, like a liquid mirror reflecting the starry sky and the full moon in all its glory. The air was cold, but inside, Thomas still carried the warmth of the wine, the picnic, Vincent’s presence.
And then, without warning, he heard the dull thud of the basket falling onto the sand.
"Vincent?" he asked, turning around in confusion.
But what he saw left him frozen.
or: Thomas and Vincent retreat to a small Argentinian town to find the peace they long for and each other’s company, even under God’s watchful eye.

Summary
"Vincent!" Thomas shouted upon seeing the frozen look on the pope’s face.
Vincent’s body had gone rigid, his eyes fixed on something Thomas couldn’t see… until he could. From the shadows, a dark, bony hand seemingly made of thick shadow emerged behind the pope’s neck, gripping it tightly.
Ray stumbled backward, cursing under his breath.
"Jesus Christ!" Aldo managed before his voice cracked in a small squeak.
Or: Thomas and Vincent are haunted by a spirit in the Vatican, making their lives much harder than they already are.
