Dad, still lethargic and looking a little pale and clammy, moves to sit by the edge of the bed with Percy, wrapped in his blanket. “You aren’t supposed to see me like this.”
Percy presses another wine can into Dad’s hands and doesn’t relent until Dad takes it. “...Has this happened before? Do Castor and Pollux know?”
Dad opens the can and takes a swig. “...A few times. But the barrier can’t fail or else the other gods would have my ass and not in a good way. I can deal with it.”
The desperation that Percy felt earlier turns into stubborn determination. “What can I do to help?”
Or: Thalia’s tree is poisoned and Grover is in danger. When Dionysus refuses to let Percy go on a quest to help save camp and find Grover, Percy turns to Poseidon for help.

Paul used to think all the time about Sally and Poseidon’s relationship after she told him. It was a strange thing for Paul, after all, in all his previous relationships, the ex she told him to never worry about wasn’t the king of the ocean, whom she had a kid with. A very powerful and accomplished kid who was now a seven-year-old, who has no idea of the power that he has, or knows that he uses to regularly beat up gods before breakfast. Now, standing here on this cold beach, still grappling with the fact that he’s twenty-five again, he can’t help but compare Sally and Poseidon for what is probably the hundredth time. If Poseidon was the ocean, Sally was the Titanic, beautiful, elegant, and quite in its strength and integrity, but even though the Titanic might have been the strongest ship of its time, it was just another ship that the ocean sank.
And standing right here in the past, facing the father of monsters like this, that couldn’t be clearer to him.

Her son’s soulmark, the one held closest to his heart, had a soft, golden glow peeking out from underneath the medical bandages. The glow seemed to become brighter, though not overpowering. Soft, comforting light. It reminded her of the sun, in a way.
As her eyes adjusted, she found she couldn’t have been more right.
Over her son’s heart spells the name Apollo, in gold cursive. The font shimmered, almost glittering as her son shifted on the bed. Every stroke of every letter seems purposeful, carefully branding her son. Out from behind the name is the image of a sun. A lyre is also depicted, and if Sally pays close enough attention, the strings seem to move slightly, as though someone is playing it.

Octavian has been stuck in a cell for who knows how long with no escape in sight. He's tortured constantly for information he doesn't have, while his mirror stands tall next to Jupiter, keeping the districts in line. When Octavian isn't being tortured, he's stuck with Percy and Jason in one room, without his eyesight.
Leo feels like a bird with clipped wings. The rebellion leader, a harsh stain from his past, is keeping him in the underground of the Hestia district. He's alone aside from his doctor and another patient, and he feels useless while being forced to carry a baby he doesn't want.
All hope is lost until a propaganda piece airs from the capitol and Leo suddenly knows exactly where Octavian is and is determined to get him back.
