Summary
Ellana Lavellan knew she had to act. Despite being disoriented from the sentinel’s magic blast, she had to stop him from destroying the Well. She saw the switch stir out of the corner of her eye to the left as they both charged the sentinel. Her elven strides shorter than the human woman’s just barely and she caught the sight of the knife. Barreling into Abelas with all her might, she tackled him away disrupting his ritual and felt a bit of pride at catching him off guard. The feeling quickly faded as something cold pierced her side and she felt hot pain in her ribs.
Stumbling back from Abelas, she clutched her side. Her hand came back covered in blood. Ellana gasped, trying to catch her breath as her vision darken and hearing roared in her ears. Were the others screaming? What were they saying? Looking up from her hands, her eyes locked with the sentinel’s. Why was he reaching out looking panicked? Why did he care—
She lost her footing on the edge of the Well and fell backwards. Water whooshed around her and filled her mouth and lungs before darkness claimed her. -
