It was hard to tell when the pain had stopped and when her withering form had finally ceased to move unconsciously within the arms of the man who had promised her sanctuary. It was a cruel punishment for the man himself to witness; after all, she was the one who promised him the world; little did he know, she had meant that quite literally rather than figuratively.
