    Summary

Before her father died, Bilbo Baggins swore him a secret, that no one would ever find out that the steadfast heir of Bag End was female. No one could ever know that she was, in fact, not a he. It was a secret she had planned to keep until the day she died. She didn't expect, however, for Gandalf the Grey to turn up at her doorstep with a company of Dwarves who wanted to reclaim their homeland from a dragon. Nor did she expect to follow after them.

But she did. Because she felt something towards their story. Because she knew, deep down, what it meant to not truly have a home. And it definitely had nothing to do with their leader with his heroic figure and his haunting voice. Nothing to do with Thorin Oakenshield at all.

She followed them on their dangerous journey across the world. But she knows that she has to keep her distance. It doesn't matter how charming they are or how kind. None of them can know. She has to keep it secret. She must keep it safe.

    Summary

The older boy came into view with the candlelight. At first she had thought it was just him, but she realized sooner that he was carrying a little bundled wrap. He was carrying a younger boy, and he angled himself so Bilba could glimpse the smaller child’s face.

The young one was barely more than a toddler, cheeks streaked with mud and a faint trace of tear tracks. Beneath the grime, he looked flushed, a feverish sheen to his skin.

“He is sick,” The older boy whispered, blue eyes wide with desperation. “I-I don’t know what to do.”

    Summary

The fields were quiet. Too quiet. Even the birds had gone still.

Frerin reached down, brushing his fingers along the deep gouges in the dirt. His hand came away black.

    “That’s not mud,” Dwalin muttered.

From behind the hedgerow, a low growl echoed.

Then came the screech. sharp, guttural, inhuman.

And just like that, the Shire was no longer safe. Belladonna Baggins never asked for more dwarves in her garden, or danger in her hills, but fate has never been much for courtesy.

    -
With Thorin Oakenshield now an awkward fixture in Bag End (and a very large one, at that), Bilba is doing her best to preserve her quiet Shire routines. But with her adopted sons Fili and Kili caught between blood and belonging, and new visitors arriving at her door with more baggage than luggage, peace is harder to maintain than ever.

    Summary

'Should have known straight away that Tooks haven't the foggiest what truly qualifies as respectable', Hamfast realized later with equal fondness and concern as he beheld the letter addressed to him in Briella’s neat script sat primly on his doorstep.

Wherein a midnight snack shifts the course of Briella Baggins' fate ever so slightly, and the expanding ripples descend unknowing upon Thorin and his Company.

    Summary

"Please Gandalf... please don't tell him." She begged, her voice thick with emotion and unshed tears.

Gandalf met her eyes with as forlorn an expression as she'd ever seen on his face. There was such sadness held there at the answer she knew he had to give.

"It would be a promise I cannot keep." He told her as kindly as he possibly could. "I'd rather not keep a father and his child from each other- a King and his heir even less so."

Billa looked away but didn't flinch when a warm, rough hand touched her shoulder offering comfort. She desperately needed it. She was so frightened.

"Did you love him?" She heard him ask. She clung to the sympathy in his voice and nodded as her eyes brimmed with tears.

    "Do you still?"

The answer was barely a whisper- as small and secret as the fluttering heartbeat under her shaking hand.

    "Yes."
