He realized what he'd said a second too late. It was a default mode, when he argued with Bruce, to remind him that he wasn't his father, he hadn't been adopted, he'd been easily replaced, there was nothing between them. Nothing.
And never mind his hurt feelings, and the loss he felt. Bruce had made it clear what he thought of their relationship. And Dick wasn't a child anymore.
He was almost ashamed of his outburst when Superman sneered dangerously, "You're right. I'm not your fucking dad. I'm fucking your dad."
(Sooner or later, they'll have to find a way to prevent so many aliens from obtaining kryptonite and its variants. But for now, Clark can uninhibitedly get some things off his chest with Dick.)

Summary
As an enchanting, whaling song broke through the silence, Wonder Woman stopped, hands automatically going to the lasso secured on her hip, the rest following her example and adopring their own battle poses, even though the song had seemed almost… friendly. Even beckoning.
“Careful, friends.” Wonder Woman warned as the notes faded, her eyes scanning the dark and salty waters of this half-sunken cave system they had found themselves in after chasing down Circe and her underlings.

When Batman introduces Superman as his partner during an investigation to Jim Gordon, it sets off a chain: one hero firmly rooted in definition #1, and the other completely convinced of definition #2.
What starts as a simple misunderstanding, it leads to a start of something more. With Gotham’s finest taking it all in stride.
