Summary
It's been sixteen years since Avatar Wakaba's premature death. Now, as surely as the sun will rise, a new Avatar cycle has begun anew. There's only one problem - no one knows who the new Avatar is. With crime on the rise and tension building between nations, people begin to worry that humankind may be on the verge of a massive catastrophe. And without the Avatar, they put their faith in their leaders to protect them from threats of all kinds - be it domestic, international, or spiritual in origin.
Meanwhile, in the wake of his arrest and sentencing to one year of probation in Republic City, Kurusu Akira has been finding it increasingly more difficult to fend off the freakishly realistic nightmares he's been having since childhood. He's rapidly approaching a breakdown, one that seems to have been building his entire life. He just hopes he can handle the fallout.

Summary
On the one hand, Tim rather enjoyed Pamela Isley. She was brilliant, and actually had a point about why she committed the crimes she did. Did he care for the actual crimes themselves? Not particularly, but he could at least understand her reasoning. As such, he didn't mind when he had to try to talk her down from whatever latest plant-filled rage she went on. Normally, the conversation would be simple enough, and he could get her back home and asleep before helping her out better in the morning. Unfortunately, it did mean that when even he couldn't talk her down, it always ended up particularly messy. This time, though, Tim didn't know if he'd be able to get away without everything falling apart.

Summary
Scar doesn’t pay much attention to the news, at first.
Look, he’s a busy man! Places to go, people to see. A few isolated cases of weird health incidents don’t have anything to do with him. Besides, it seems like the city government has things largely under control. There's a public safety announcement saying anybody with serious symptoms should go to the hospital, and there’s something about bottled water that Scar brushes off because his fridge is already filled to capacity with leftover unlabeled Gatorade, and that’s basically all he thinks of it until one Tuesday morning when he hauls himself out of bed rubbing at his eyes, fumbles around in the dark for a moment, and pulls a windowshade open to let the morning sun in.
