Deku laughs a little, even though he looks happy to hear it. “That’s very sweet,” he says, “but I meant out of everyone else.”
Oh. Eri considers this, but after what happened today she doesn’t really have to think about it. “Kacchan,” she tells him. She likes Kacchan because he’s nice and because he doesn’t treat her like she’s fragile and because he made her cookies. And she knows Deku likes him a lot, too, so she knows it’s a good answer.
“Do you want to know a secret, Eri?” Deku smiles again. “Kacchan is my favorite, too.”
Or Katsuki makes it his business to befriend Eri, and realizes he has a lot in common with this traumatized kid.

He sat up slowly, spine cracking, muscles stiff. His fingers reached out and blindly pulled open the drawer by his bed. Inside, beneath a crumpled stack of class notes and energy bar wrappers, was a box cutter.
Clean. Sharp. Small.
