Tony feels so goddamn protective over him. He wraps an arm around him and pulls him closer.
Steve shivers and shakes his head. “I don’t wanna sleep again.”
It’s pathetic and sad. And Tony yearns so hard for him. He reaches out and holds Steve’s face carefully, rubbing his thumb under his eye.
“It’s okay,” he murmured, because it felt like the right thing to do. “I’m here.”

After Tony is injured during a mission, Steve and Tony grow closer. And Tony begins to understand just how far how possessiveness for the super soldier goes.

"You don't need to lie to him," he continued, as if Peter didn't get it the first time.

"Steve," he whispered, "people are watching."
"I don't care about them, Tones," he said in that gentle tone that gave Tony butterflies. "I care about you."
"Why aren't you scared?" He asked.
"Because I have you," he said simply.
