The only BDSM fic I would ever recommend to someone outside the community, the only one they wouldn't read for any reason other than to have a good reason to set it on fire... I am talking to you bad Penthouse Forum letters and 50 Shades of Grey.
To paraphrase a comment I wrote on here:
Anon- Love the story, but I'm a little worried about Weiss at the end there. At one point I put myself into an altered state in order to help a friend. This was fine and dandy until they started reacting poorly and I found myself not caring about how they felt, only why they felt that way. It terrified me, and then terrified me more when I had to put serious effort into getting out of the mindset, despite disliking it.
I guess the point is, I'm worried Weiss will find herself psychologically incapable of leaving her "pet" mindset.Me- It doesn't work that way... Although getting there can become an addiction like any other pleasurable experience. If the pet's mind was fragile enough to get trapped in an altered state, then no Domme with any education and empathy would play with them. The Author had in no way portrayed Blake as someone who doesn't care for Weiss or understand the power exchange dynamic between dom and sub.
The experience you described could happen in your situation because in order to play the role, you suppressed your empathy; anyone who does that in BDSM is a danger to themselves and others and will be quickly ostracized from the community or arrested... This is why anyone who understands BDSM or does any real research hates 50 Shades of Grey with a passion. It is a horribly abusive pile of misinformation, and if Christian wasn't filthy rich, he'd be stalking little girls in the suburbs as a birthday clown. (Yes, it is really that awful of a book.)
