Summary
ACT I - The Night of Black Knives does not go as planned. Godwyn survives, though wounded near to death. A conspiracy between Ranni and Marika begins to unravel. The Confessors' Hold and the Dragon Cult vie for control. Miquella attempts to stabilize Leyndell while Rykard besieges the city.
ACT II - Ranni races back to Leyndell while Radahn turns aside to break the siege of Raya Lucaria. As the siege of Leyndell drags on and a sinister cult takes hold amidst the forces of Mt. Gelmir, Rykard slips closer to despair. Now the self-declared king of Leyndell, Miquella struggles to wrest public support away from Marika and her false prince. Beset by memories not his own, Godwyn seeks out the true nature of the entity with which he has become entangled.

"Zack," Cloud whispers. He traces the softest of fingertips against Zack's left eye, which is definitely on its way to blackening. Zack unspools, subconsciously, under his touch. "You took it too far this time."
"We made a deal, sunshine." Zack laughs once, blood dribbling in a small arc down his face. "You wanted your heart back, and I'd do anything to get it for you."
Cloud successfully blackmails the star player of Midgar College's hockey team into helping him get revenge against his ex—or more importantly, Zack's teammate. And it goes great, until Cloud's not the one looking for revenge.

“Let’s cut to the chase. We know what we’re here for.” Cloud’s throat catches on the last syllable. He’s so damn nervous, it’s a wonder he can even speak at all. “But today I, uh, have a guest.”
A bronze hand slides from out of frame to wrap with lazed possession around Cloud’s throat. There’s the faintest chuckle as Cloud responsively lifts his head.
Zack says, “Think I’m more than that.”
Cloud asks Zack to help him film a video. To his confusion, Zack’s more than willing.

Summary
It is the natural law of the world that each person has at least one soulmate. The amount of bonds tied to the soul can be easily determined with how many unique symbols there are in the soulmark everyone was born with.
Just as the sun always rises every morning and the stars twinkle every night, every pair—or group—of soulmates would always have a Dreamer. For even with the unique soulmarks that would hopefully allow soulmates to recognize each other, the vastness of the planet still makes it difficult for them to find one another.
Legends say that it was Gaia’s pity, for she could not bear the thought of soulmates never finding each other. Hence, blessing each bond with a Dreamer who would be able to unite their fated souls together. After awakening in their coming of age, a Dreamer would be able to connect everyone who shares their soul bond through a shared dreamscape. It was because of this blessing, many were able to find their fated ones during their lifetime.

Genesis, Angeal, Sephiroth, and Zack are considered lucky soulmates who have found each other way before shared dreams. But that luck backfires when they could only meet their last soulmate in a space beyond sleep and reality.
