Summary
Expectations were all Annette ever had. And, unfortunately, they proved to be too heavy a burden.
Annette thought the Fhirdiad social spring season to be one of merriment, to be of social connections for her to build, and to gorge on cakes and treats with Mercedes for moons to come. But, it soon devolved upon the discovery that she was brought to Fhirdiad to secure a most advantageous marriage. To ensure her of her safety and elevate the Dominic barony to higher standards, it was a gamble her family was willing to make.
Still, she refused to be a pawn in the game she was supposed to play in. With nothing more than herself and the odds stacked against her, Annette decided to believe in herself, to rely on her own cunning, and to depend on the unlikely ally she found in Felix Hugo Fraldarius — the scowling heir of a dukedom with no interest in marriage.
