Klaus daggered her and no one knew because he had Katherine play as Elena until she killed Jeremy and he had no choice but to undagger Elena so she could say goodbye to Jeremy and then she heard about the Cure and decided to help Rebekah, pretending to have her emotions off. After that, Klaus daggered her again and took her to New Orleans, where later on, Hayley found her and woke her up.

Summary
Back in 2013, Elena had taken the sure and happily became human once again. Though what made it better was that the love of her life, Damon Salvatore agreed to become human with her.
Five years later, in 2018, Damon became human after Stefan injected the cure into him before sacrificing himself to kill Katherine and save Mystic Falls from hellfire. Not long after, Bonnie managed to finally awaken Elena from the sleeping coma she was spelled into.
Elena and Damon then went on to officially get married and eventually had their third child, a son they named Bennett Lorenzo, in honor of Bonnie and Enzo. Their first two children, Jenna Miranda and Grayson Jeremiah, were born a few years prior due to a fertility spell Bonnie casted on Elena, which Elena was eternally grateful for.
What happens when on June 22, Elena's 27th birthday, she gets the unfortunate news of Damon dying in a car crash on his way home? What will happen to Elena and the children?
