Summary
Upon further inspection, as she fought the Imperials, she realised it was not so much the feeling of ice, but instead the false coldness that comes from something so impossibly scorching that it sets every nerve ending ablaze. It was less of a glacier and more the core of a star, nuclear fusion releasing unimaginable amounts of energy. All stars eventually collapsed under the force of their own gravity, Merrin knew, but Cal shone with the intensity of the largest and most short lived of stars, doomed to tear itself apart in an explosion of fire, a supernova which left behind a gaping hole in the galaxy - a pit of darkness that consumed and annihilated all light. If she looked, not with her eyes but with the gaze of Dathomir, she could just see the beginnings of an implosion in the Force, a precursor to the combustion destined to follow.

Summary
Five years after the Purge, fugitive padawan Cal Kestis has been keeping his head down as a scrapper on Bracca, eking out a lonely existence undercover. By a trick of the fates, (or the meddling of the Force) he becomes acquainted with Jagannath, a mysterious Zabrak on the run from the Empire, who may or may not be Darth Maul under another name.
When a workplace accident blows his cover, Cal escapes Bracca with the help of this reluctant ally, discovering the ex-Sith’s true identity in the process. Rescued by a pair of freedom fighters, Cal is quickly roped into an elaborate plan to restore the Jedi Order, dragging an unwilling Maul along for the ride. What follows is a quest of epic proportions, taking the motley, squabbling crew clear across the galaxy as they work to acquire a Jedi holocron containing crucial information, running up against Inquisitors, crime syndicates, reanimated corpses, ornery wildlife, and some very questionable meatloaf along the way.
As the Force sits back with a bowl of popcorn to watch the ensuing madness, it is painfully clear that the course of galactic history will never be the same again.
